School is constant stress. Either you try to avoid the teacher’s eyes when he calls your classmates to answer at the front, or you have an unannounced pop-quiz. Basic rule – it’s darkest under the street lamp
Each teacher will check in a different way whether students write tests and exams reliably, and whether they have support. However, it is worth remembering one, timeless principle of effective retrieval – it’s darkest under the street lamp.
What does it mean? It’s best to cheat when sitting close to the professor’s desk. Usually, people from the back desks are accused of cheating. The teacher’s eyesight is also mostly focused on them. Meanwhile, the first desks and those inconspicuous, all-knowing people can surprise us and get an A on the test, which they wrote entirely with support – that is, with a cheat sheet.
Don’t get caught
Cheating is not a simple task at all! Not only do you need to prepare a good cheats heet, it also requires agility so that the professor’s watchful eye does not see you. The key to good cheating is not getting caught. Sure, it can be extremely stressful the first time, but luckily, every next time will be easier.
Use everyday items
Everyday items can be helpful in cheating. For example, a pen. You can stick a tiny piece of paper on it, preferably in the color of a pen, so that it does not draw eyes. It was my cheating method in the 2000s, when there were no smartphones, only a few people had internet. Back then, you used pen or a metal pencil case cheatsheets.
The pencil case idea didn’t work out every time, when the teacher told the whole class to put away their accessories before the test. And then what? The only salvation was a cheat sheet smuggled on something to write on. Risky but properly effective!
Smart era
Is cheating easier in the era of smartphones and smartwatches? Definitely! Even high school graduates can cleverly cheat on the matriculation exam, having a blank phone screen or a smartwatch on their hands. Does this mean that the smart era has triumphed over the traditional pen method?
As it turns out – no. Often in college, teachers, from experience, force phones to be put away, so that students cannot use them during the written exam. Some have a smartphone box ready, which they give back to students at the end of the test or written exam. What remains then? The pen method or a stroke of luck. The former, however, has a much better chance of success.
Act normal
If you want to cheat effectively, try not to draw attention to yourself. Even if you’ll be super stressed, it will be easier for you to cheat if you act exactly as you do every day. One odd gesture, different clothing, make-up that you don’t wear every day, is enough to stand out on that particular day. Your classmates will be grateful to you, but you will come out worst from it.
What to do when cheating is not possible?
Situations when cheating is not possible are not uncommon. What can you do when this happens to you? Stay calm. Did you make a cheat sheet? Great! Thanks to this, you have basic knowledge of the most important issues and you are able to earn at least enough points to pass the exam.
Do not panic! When you panic, stress takes over and you forget everything you remembered while making the cheat sheet. At worst, as students say – chill out! There are second (and subsequent) re-take dates! One of those times you will surely pass a test or exam and correct that unfortunate test, where cheating was a feat comparable to climbing Mount Everest.
